You are 𝐍𝐎𝐓 going to make money and become an authority on Instagram if your content is shit. Sorry, but someone has to be honest with you! Everyone is tired of seeing more of the same type of content all over.
How many times did you have someone following you, liking about 3-5 of your posts and leaving a “copy/paste” type of comment?
Take a seat because I’ll share some shocking news with you. They are seeing you as a number, usually don’t care about you, don’t engage with you and will end up unfollowing you. You need to create engaging content for your ideal follower.
An easy tip to create unique content is to get out of your bubble. We can get caught up following people in our niche so it’s hard not to model what they are putting out there.
These 6 tips will help you to create content that will engage your followers, share your knowledge, and show your expertise in your niche. Let me explain more about each of them.
Giving value means that you will teach your audience. Sharing your knowledge is an important way for people to trust you. No one buys from you before they know that you are trustworthy.
When you try to talk to everyone, you are actually talking to no one. Understand the way your audience talks, who they are, so they can get the feeling of “did you read my mind?” whenever they see your post.
This is not about creating stuff you want. Unless you are gonna buy your product/services. You need to create content that your audience wants. Keep a list of their questions, comments, etc. Listen, read and chat with them to understand more of what they want from you. No wonder you have two ears and two eyes!
Mix the categories! It’s boring to see more of the same. I recommend you to have categories that entertain, educate, sell, initiate a conversation, inspire and connect.
How would you know if your content was successful if you didn’t have a goal for it? Sometimes we create content with the goal of having people sharing it, buying from us, etc. Think about WHY you are going to create that content. What are the goals of sharing certain posts? Keep your why and your goals front and center every time you create an Instagram post.
Well, this one is pretty straight forward, right? Analyze so you can do more of what is being loved by your audience.
Make a list of 10 things that you could teach your audience. It might be hard in the beginning, but it’ll open up your mind to so much more! Reach out to your past clients, to friends, to family. What things do they tell you that you taught them? Sometimes you teach a client something and have no idea that you did. Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback.
Use these exercises to help you create UNIQUE content.
Look what your competitors are doing. Make a list of things you like and do not like about their content. This does NOT mean that you copy them. This will give you a feeling of what you like and do not like that someone similar to you is offering.
Check accounts from other niches. Make a list as well. Create a list of shoulder niches that you can use to help build your business. A shoulder niche is a niche similar but different to yours but that you can benefit from. 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: I’m an Instagram strategist. I’ll look up what other digital marketers are doing but I’ll also check counselors, online stores, doctors. This way I’ll be able to get the best of all worlds to bring to my own. Does that make sense to you?
Put the lists together to create something different. How can you combine these lists to create a new and unique perspective of what you are offering your clients? Think outside the box. Don’t be afraid to take a chance with a new idea. See if it pays off.
Are you still out of content ideas?
Keep in mind that what is obvious to you, might not be obvious to others.
You should start by 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 your audience something that you take for granted because you think everyone knows. You tend to forget things when you are no longer a beginner or in the place your clients are.
Create content around questions that your audience asks you through messages and comments. They are your biggest teachers when it comes to the content that they want to be created.
Look for inspiration in your life. How could you relate a situation that happened to you today with the services your offer?
Take it easy! Especially now, it can be overwhelming to think about your Instagram content on top of everything else.
